Quah Boon Huat is an economist with extensive experience in economic research, policy analysis, and financial markets. He holds a Master of Economics from the University of Malaya and Nagoya University, Japan, where he also earned his Bachelor of Economics as a Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholar. He previously served as Senior Economist at MARC Ratings Berhad, focusing on sovereign credit ratings and economic publications, and as Consultant Economist at the OECD Development Centre in Paris, contributing to major regional outlook and policy reports on Southeast Asia. He has also held research and advisory roles at the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER), the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, and lectured in economics at the tertiary level. Earlier in his career, he worked extensively in banking, treasury, derivatives, and equity markets with leading financial institutions. He is a regular contributor to Malaysian newspapers on economic and policy issues.
